Catherine's Warrior Path Kicking Triple Negative In the Butt
Nationwide
Catherine is a larger than life passionate and loving mum of 2, wife, friend and talented business woman. She has dedicated decades in her work to helping and coaching many and also driving and supporting causes such as Dress for Success and raising funds for the victims of the Muriwai storm in Feb 2023
She was my neighbour for nearly a decade and has been a friend for 15 years
On the 20th of November 2024 after already having other serious health battles and surgeries, also amidst enduring the heartbreaking loss of several close family members, we were shocked that a routine mammogram turned her world upside down with a diagnosis of aggressive triple-negative breast cancer. Catherine is now entering a new and daunting battle, requiring vital unfunded Keytruda treatment (which is incidentally fully funded for all stages of TNBC & primary cancers in Australia and all around the world.. but not New Zealand unless it is advanced / uncontained cancer!) to give her a chance to fight this aggressive cancer type bravely she has been diagnosed with.I am a midwife, mum and businesswoman and together with her daughter Holly (who serves our country in the military), we have set up this Givealittle page to assist Catherine during this challenging time to be able to afford the necessary immunotherapy treatments she needs to survive and for her family to care for her
Thank you for your kindness and generosity your support will make a huge difference to Catherine and her family

Catherine was my neighbour for 9 years and has been a friend for 15.... her family and mine have been through many highs and lows together..
Treatment, Keytruda cancer treatment not funded by NZ Government, assistance for Catherine and her family as she or they may not be able to work full time during her care.
Update on my Advocacy - and Happy Easter 2 April 2026
I wanted to share where things are at, both personally and in the wider fight for access to treatment.
Yesterday I read the released Valuing Life Medicines Access Summit Report
https://www.valuinglife.nz/report25
and this article today on why Pharmac reform stalled
https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360958671/david-seymour-proposed-major-change-pharmac-why-it-stalled
What stands out is that the solutions are already known. There is clear alignment across patients, clinicians and industry that medicines are not just a cost, they are an invest to save strategy.
I also encourage you to watch this discussion
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUAu5DK6ED4
and see how it was taken straight into Parliament the next day
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/18PqdpaoeH/
The conversations are happening, which is positive and I have been named as the ferocious advocate. But the reality remains unchanged. Access is still delayed, and people are still having to fund treatment themselves or go without.
My petition for Keytruda remains in Parliament despite submissions and support. It is about creating a system that funds treatment early and gives others a fair chance.
