Support Dave's recovery from a double lung transplant

Dave and Rachel are two AMAZING teachers from Taranaki. For years they have helped others, and we would like to support them in return during this challenging and uncertain time.

Dave was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at age 8. After farm work became too tough on his body, he retrained as a teacher. In 2002 he married Rachel and they had 2 children. His lung function dropped and he began struggled with serious lung infections. In 2011 he received a new pair of lungs. The change was miraculous! In a few short months, Dave was able to be the dad that he had always wanted to be and return to his love of teaching. Life was good.

But, in early 2022 Dave’s 10 year old lungs started to deteriorate and he received his second double lung transplant on 23 Jan 2023, followed by another two lots of surgery due to complications. The recovery this time looks to be a long one with Dave and Rachel living at the hospital for 3+ months. As they didn’t expect this to happen so fast, they didn’t have time to save for it. As neither of them can work at present, they are going to need financial help to pay their bills and look after their kids at home, as well as live at the hospital.

Neither of them is the type to ask for support, but we would like to ask for your help in relieving their financial burden as Dave recovers.
