Brent Shears is a living legend and a force of nature. His partner Krystle is a rock and an effing machine. Superheroes for sure, but they've run up against very hard times. For years, they have been managing Brent's increasingly dire health struggles as he faces kidney failure and awaits transplant surgery. The Wanaka couple have done their best to run their award-winning Water Taxi service while undergoing rounds of treatment and setbacks. COVID-19 and the White Island disaster badly impacted Brent's surgical schedule. He recently underwent open heart surgery to repair a valve. On November 11, Brent's leg was amputated below the knee.
We are friends of Brent and Krystle. We represent a group of their friends who wish to support them.
The couple will struggle to operate their Wanaka-based business while in Christchurch for medical care. Donations will help cover travel expenses and basic living costs like food and bills.
Additional Use of Funds 20 November 2020
Donations will also help pay for specialty prosthetics that Brent will need.
