Dunedin, Otago

Charlene Hong Hue Phuong, a loving wife, mother, sister and daughter, was one of the most beautiful, kind-hearted, hard-working and generous people you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. She has been an unwavering rock for her, what has become, small but big Whānau in Dunedin. Her son, Tama, is growing quickly to be an understanding, smart and gentle little man. At 22 years of age, she had grown and achieved so much in her short time with us, recently having graduated with a degree in Surveying, and made big moves to start of her career. Her passion for what she loved doing was refreshing and infectious.

Fay Lesley Leota, was the strongest and most resilient of mothers to Savalinga, Neli, Chevelle, Cyrus, Pili, Lycan and little Fayson. She has raised strong, capable, and respectful sons and a daughter that will no doubt all find their way in life and succeed in whatever they put their mind and efforts on.

On the morning of the 23rd of October, both were involved in a tragic car accident, and have passed away, leaving us much to soon with two less beautiful, shining lights in this world.

Savalinga, Neli, Cyrus, Pili, Lycan, Chevelle, Tama and Fayson, have all been left behind, and are all part of our Whānau. We love you and we are here to support you.

We wanted to set up this way for those who would like to contribute and help out Charlene’s and the Leota Whānau in the difficult journey ahead. Anything will be greatly and graciously appreciated.

We will always love and miss you Charlene and Fay. Rest In Peace and Love, beautiful mothers.

We, the close friends of Savalinga and Charlene, due to Covid-19, cannot be in Dunedin so show the support we wish we could. This is one small way in which we want to support our brother and sister and their Whānau in this difficult time.

Use of funds

All generous proceeds will be split evenly between both Charlene’s and Fay’s families, to help with the upcoming expenses during this extremely difficult time.

A wonderful friend, through surveying, to my son Elliott and an inspiration to me and Matilda by her reputation. Matilda and I only met Charlene briefly at graduation but she was the impressive whirlwind we had heard all about! A woman of strength, kindness, intelligence and leadership potential. A true gift to the world. It seems so unfair for her to be denied the opportunity to reach her full potential. Arohanui Sav, Tama and whanau & friends
