Support for Greta and her family during Greta's battle with cancer

    Firstly, on behalf of Greta and Mark, I'd like to thank you all for your generous donations. Every donation reflects the incredible, supportive community we live in. Thank you all for taking the time to donate and write a message. We appreciate it so much.

    Pakuranga United Rugby Club (PURC) is hosting a fundraiser to support Greta and her family. All funds raised will go to the Thomas family to help with Greta's fight against cancer. PURC would like to invite everyone to come along to enjoy a night out dancing. Dress up in your best '80s gear.

    Date: Saturday 18th March.

    Firstly, I just want to thank everyone for your support, donations and kind words. It means more than you know and it is giving my whole family hope, especially my children. They see the support coming in and know that Mummy isn’t alone and we are all fighting together. I am so grateful to have been able to take my kids to Australia for the first time and have this special holiday together as a family and make some wonderful memories.

    I received more upsetting news at my latest oncology appointment, where my test results showed that I would not benefit from keytruda (pembrolizumab) due to my type of cancer and cell makeup. My life expectancy is not good and the drug that would most benefit me and my type of cancer is sacituzumab govitecan. This is also unfunded and costs approximately $100K per 6 months. This drug is given after I complete 6 rounds of chemotherapy; a combo of carboplatin and gemcitabine. Due to the aggressiveness of my cancer, it has been recommended that I delay starting chemotherapy until January, to make the most of the Christmas and New Year period with my family. It is a very hard time for us.
