Supporting Josh Grant to continuously improve his quality of life equal to ACC entitlements which he is not entitled to.
Gisborne
Ongoing support or Josh and his family - Gisborne.
Josh Grant (Grunta) was a 25 year old diesel mechanic in 2019 and flatting with his mates. His life was completely disrupted when tingling in his feet resulted in an emergency transfer from Gisborne to Waikato hospital on the first Wednesday of the nationwide lockdown. Within weeks Josh was paralysed and nearly died from an allergic reaction to medication. He is permanently paralysed from the chest down. This was a traumatic time for Josh and his family - with very little understanding about what was happening to Josh regarding the paralysis and working through COVID restrictions. Specialists now know Josh developed an infection that attacked his spine. The infection has left damaged scar tissue around his spine - eventuating to permanent damage. Josh is spent time in the Auckland spinal unit receiving rehab and physio and eventually returned home to his family and friends in Gisborne. He is not covered by ACC meaning he does not get as much access to the equipment, changes to his parents home and general care and financial support that people that are paralysed due to an accident receive.
Friends and family wish to ensure that Josh and his family continue to be supported financially as the journey is lengthy. We want to ensure Josh is able to upgrade his equipment and continuously improve his quality of life. (page creators).
