Help get Loukas Rainger home safely from Thailand.
Nationwide
Last week my 18 year old nephew Loukas was arrested for picking up a watch in the Surat Thani airport that was in his security scanning tray. When he reached Bangkok to take his flight home he was arrested and detained overnight, transported on a 10 hour train ride to Surat Thani, and has been detained in a high security prison where they shaved his head and he slept on a floor with 20 other detainees for 6 days.
With lots of effort and money he was granted bail on 21st July and has been reunited with his mother Tash. He now needs to wait in the Surat Thani province for some months for court proceedings and an outcome. This has been incredibly traumatic and there is still a long way to go to resolve the situation, and for Loukas to return home to his family in Tauranga.
This page has been set up to help the Rainger family with flight costs, accommodation, and living costs while they are in Thailand supporting him. If you can help in even a small way it will go a long way to ensuring the Rainger family feel supported during this time, and that Loukas can get the best possible help during this ordeal.
We all pray for his safe return.
I am his auntie.

Loukas has been released on bail and reunited with his mum Tash 22 July 2026
We are so pleased to hear that Loukas was reunited with his mum at late last night in Surat Thani on 21/07. It has been a big ordeal for both of them, and they are recovering today in the accommodation they have found for the next few months. Next steps are preparing for visa extensions, lawyer fees, and court appearances every 2 weeks until the first hearing in September.
