Leithen Injury Update
12 January 2026Following his accident, Leithen has now undergone three surgeries, with his fourth scheduled for this Thursday. He has also had six dressing changes so far, all of which have gone really well and shown positive progress.
A huge thank you to the district nurses for their incredible care, support, and dedication—not only for everything they have done already, but also for all the ongoing work ahead as Leithen continues his recovery. Their help has been invaluable.
This Thursday’s surgery will involve a skin graft, which is needed to close the wound on his foot. We’re hopeful this will be a big step forward and an important step in his healing journey.
Leithen is adapting really well and has been loving visits from his friends. He even made it to the basketball court to attempt a few shots, which lifted his spirits. While he is still unable to weight bear at this stage, he has adapted extremely well to using crutches and is getting around amazingly.
Most importantly, Leithen is in really good spirits, and we’re looking forward to the day he can fully get back to life in Twizel. Thank you again to everyone for the continued support and kindness—it truly means so much.
