Support for Soph

  • Love from Sophie

      18 March 2021

    Kia ora e hoa ma,

I cannot articulate with words how humbled I am to have received all your support and kind messages . Well I could but it would be cheesy as hell and possibly cause further brainache for all of us. I have always struggled with accepting help , something that Teena and her IT person /PA Emma know so kudos to them for organising.

So I’m currently a week out of hospital and trying to get used to my new norm while recuperating at home on Waiheke mixed with a couple of nights in the city. By that I mean on my brother’s or Les’s couch enjoying their cooking not swinging from chandeliers unfortunately. The focus is on healing and then prepping the body and brain for another possible operation in 6months. Your generousity has meant I can do this without stressing too much. So thank you thank you thank you. I would love to thank each and everyone of you personally at some point but apologies if I see you and I forget. The brain is still playing tricks and gets tired way too quickly. Also what little filter I had also seems to fall off quicker too so apologies in advance for that as well. (convenient right? J )

I’m incredibly lucky to still be here and be able to write this , to have the most amazing whānau and friends I have supporting me plus to have this moment in time to sit, heal and just be. So don’t worry I will be making the most of it.

    Watch this space.

    Ngā mihi

    Sophie xx

    From Soph’s FB:

Day 15 and home soon. Be aware of aneurysms whānau... loads of us are walking around with them and don’t even realise until it’s too late. So manage your stress levels and get any sudden weird headaches checked out asap. #aneurysm #aneurysmsurvivor #whānau

    Kia Ora mates,

I have been directed to stay off here but I just wanted to personally thank everyone for their support over the last couple of weeks. It’s really humbling and a little overwhelming but I am on the mend and I’m sure it’s a huge factor. As for the givealittle page I don’t know quite what to say except thanks. That was unexpected but appreciated as I’m not sure what the timeframe is before this is all over.

At least the hallucinations have pretty much stopped. They are not as fun as you might think. But can I just say John the Baptiste’s house rocks,Vikings really are massive ,being shot by an army squad truly truly sucks and I now know what a time traveller would go thru. ( because they exist right?)

Also be aware of aneurysm’s ... lots of us are walking around with them and don’t even realise. That weird headache may not just be a headache.

Hope to see some of you soon

    🥴 Soph
