Help support an elderly couple who have lost everything in a landslide rebuild.

Whakatane, Bay Of Plenty

On Tuesday the 2nd of may my parents were greatly affected by the storms in Whakatane. My parents were in their home when a landslide hit the building and took majority of the building out. We are very grateful that they managed to escape out of a small gap that used to be a joined wall with minor injuries. My parents had been working on renovating and building extensions onto this house for the past 6 months which unfortunately are now destroyed along with all belongings inside the house. My parents are in their 60’s so unfortunately it will be a long process to clean up and rebuild. Although they are insured with the long wait for insurance we hope with the support of the community we may be able to get extra assistance with the financial costs of essential’s to sort through the rubble and rebuild. We thank you kindly for reading and sharing our story.
