Support Jay Xuan getting to 2024 Badminton World Junior Championship

    Thank you to all our families and friends for being so generous and kind, donating and supporting Jay Xuan. It's been so heartwarming for our family.

    Jay Xuan had a 28 ish hour transit from Christchurch to Nanchang last Friday and Saturday.

    Results in the group matches

    NZ vs Cook Islands. Won.

    NZ vs UAE. Lost.

    NZ vs Denmark. Lost.

    NZ vs Trinidad & Tobago. Won. Jay Xuan lead the haka.

    Which meant that NZ qualified for the 17th to 24th placings draw.

    Yesterday NZ beat Netherlands 110 vs 109 in an epic match. What a come back!

    Lost to Hong Kong today.

    So tomorrow NZ plays Sri Lanka for 19th or 20th place. Final match for the teams event before they go on to play in the individual events.

  • Badminton NZ Training Camp this weekend

    At the airport waiting to board my flight to Auckland for the BNZ training camp this weekend. I'm looking forwards to it.

    My family and I are so humbled and appreciative of all the support we have received from everyone. Thank you to Protech Sport NZ for sponsoring me, Darshan Vernekar my coach, all of you for your donations, kind words, buying food from our fundraising cafes and those who have signed up to play in the fundraising tournament!

  • Change of goal

    We've been advised that the cost of going to WJC is now estimated to be $5000. Great news for the NZ team players. Jay Xuan also needs to pay for his Christchurch to Auckland return connecting flights plus 2 extra WJC training camps fees and return flights plus extra training, which we hope to raise through the fundraising tournament.

    🔸Represent your chosen country & experience the dynamic WJC relay format!🔸

    Team tournament to fundraise for Jay Xuan Tan to represent New Zealand at the BWF World Junior Championship (WJC) in Nanchang this October.

    All funds raised will go towards Jay Xuan's 2024 Badminton World Junior Championships costs (flights, transport, accommodation, food, uniform, WJC training in Auckland) and any balance will go towards badminton training.

    What: Bringing the World Junior Championship to Christchurch!

    Bring your delegation, select your country (first in first served) and come experience the WJC relay format.

    - Team tie format: BWF relay regulations (further details below)

    - Minimum of 2 men + 2 women (maximum 8 total players) per team

    Who: Anyone and everyone! Open to all ages and levels - teams will be split into grades.

    When: Saturday 31 August 2024 (9am-5pm)

    Where: Badminton Hall (Badminton Canterbury, 220 Pages Road)

    Open to anyone who has played badminton before.

    Registrations close Thursday 22 August.
