Support Kaden on his road to recovery from a traumatic brain injury.
Auckland
This page is for all of the friends & whanau of Kaden who have asked how they can help and show support for our warrior boy.
On the 30th of January 2023, Kaden was hit by a car while walking around the front of a bus. He sustained multiple skull and facial fractures, a traumatic brain injury, a severe break in his right femur, broken tibia, spine, elbow, and a collapsed lung. He was in a coma for two weeks and given little to no chance of survival. But Kaden is a warrior and has defied the odds. He has fought his way through months of ICU and rehab, re-learning basic skills such as walking and talking. We could not be more proud of how far he’s come.
As his time at the amazing Wilson House is coming to an end, his family now face the challenge of continuing Kaden's lengthy physical and psychological rehabilitation at home. We want to give Kaden has the best chance of making a full recovery and with the right support we are hopeful this will happen.
Funds received from this page will go towards supporting Kaden’s recovery, as well as a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of safety around buses and wearing helmets. It is the families wish that Kaden's story will inspire others to take precautions and avoid further tragedies like this in the future.
Kaden’s family have been truly humbled by the love and support through this difficult time and cannot thank you enough for your incredible generosity.
We are close friends of the family, trying to support in any way we can.
Funds received will be used to ensure Kaden has the best support in his recovery, as well as run a campaign to raise awareness to avoid similar accidents in future.
Thank you! Final week to raise funds for Kaden & family 29 May 2023
We would like to thank the 158 of you who have donated so far. We are absolutely blown away by your generosity and kind words. The donations are going to go a long way to ensuring Kaden has access to the best treatments and care.
Kaden graduated the Wilson’s rehab centre early in May and has spent the last few weeks enjoying time at home with his family. He is now able to do an hour a day of schoolwork at home with the Northern Health School and is eager to work his way back to Selwyn College with his friends. There is still a long road to get there, but he continues to blow everyone away with his determination and ongoing recovery. Unfortunately Kaden’s leg is taking some time to heal and is likely to require additional surgeries.
This Give a Little campaign will run for the remainder of the week so please share with your networks. We would be thrilled if we could raise $20,000 for Kaden and the family.
Thank you again for your support and generosity.
