  • Kevin has returned to the mainland

Last night we achieved another milestone in our journey, when after almost five weeks at Middlemore, Kevin was transferred to Christchurch Hospital.

We are so grateful to the amazing staff at Middlemore, who cared for Kevin in so many different ways. Nurses, orderlies, doctors, surgeons, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, dietitians, pharmacists, a psychologist, and all the support staff - it takes a massive team to save a life! Thank you.

Although we'll be camped in the hospital for some time yet, it's reassuring to be back in our hometown. Being close to our kids and friends gives us strength for the long and difficult journey that still lies ahead.

Your generous donations have helped us to keep things ticking over through a very stressful time. We can't thank everyone enough, for the compassion and support you've shown us. We've both cried tears of gratitude reading your messages. Words can't express how thankful we are for every gesture of kindness we've received - it really makes a world of difference.

Absolutely thrilled to bits, to see you left the North Island and landed in NZ's Canterbury, where the homeland will give you piece of mind, in the long healing process. Fantastic KB and T.

      Keep up that fight ;-)

  • A progress update on Kevin

Thanks everyone for your support. I've read the messages to Kevin and he was blown away.

He's still in the National Burn Centre at Middlemore. Burns are a rollercoaster and we have to take it one day at a time. But, all going well, we're hopeful he'll be transferred back to Christchurch Hopsital for ongoing care in a week or so.

Thanks again for your kindness everyone. Your words have brought light to a dark time for us.
