Support a Far North resident to represent NZ in lawn bowls as a person with a disability we all take for granted - deafness
Kerikeri, Northland
It’s an old saying that mother knows best.
So when Craig McKeogh’s mum Velda McKeogh suggested he take up bowls to ‘keep him out of trouble’ he took up the advice.
And it’s sound advice that has worked out well, with Craig - who has been deaf almost since birth - selected to represent New Zealand at the World Bowls Championships in Edinburgh in August.
It’s Craig’s first foray into representing his country and he will compete in the deaf section of the games. He’s proud to be representing the Kerikeri Bowling Club in Scotland.
NZ to Scotland 1st - 14th Sept 2023 airfare, accommodation and team uniforms at approx cost of $6,000 per team member (14 in total). If target not reached, Craig may well have to borrow shortfall.
Nearly time to go 25 August 2023
At the Kerikeri Bowling Club rollup on 24th Aug, the Far North Bowling Centre President, Jill Fraser, presented Craig who was wearing his NZ bowling shirt, with Givealittle funds $1,247.25 plus funds from a club raffle.
Craig with the rest of the NZ team fly out of Auckland on the evening of Sunday 27th Aug.
Guid luck Craig & Hae a guid journey
