Help make history for New Zealand paradarts and inspire others facing similar challenges.
Carterton, Wellington
Matt Mason, a chef and passionate darts player from Carterton is on a remarkable journey. Despite living with Type 1 diabetes for 42 years, Matt has maintained an unwavering passion for life. Three years ago, he lost his first leg due to diabetes-related circulation issues, followed by the loss of his other . However, this setback led him to paradarts—a sport specifically designed for people in wheelchairs or living with disabilities. Since then, darts has become more than just a game for Matt; it's a source of immense joy and resilience.
Matt's achievements in paradarts are impressive. He recently achieved the top spot ranking as New Zealand's number one upright paradarts player, knocking rival Paul Stevenson off his perch¹. Now, Matt is gearing up to represent New Zealand at the World Paradarts Cup in the Netherlands this November—the first time New Zealand is sending a full team to this prestigious event.
However, preparing for an international competition comes with significant costs. Matt needs support to cover travel expenses, accommodation, meals, equipment, and training.
Here's how you can make a difference:
1. **Donate**: Every contribution counts, regardless of its size. Your support will bring Matt closer to achieving his dream and representing New Zealand on the world stage.
2. **Spread the Word**: Share Matt's story and Givealittle campaign with your network. Together, we can inspire others and create history for New Zealand paradarts.
Updated on 5/09: Costs associated with attending Worlds Paradarts Masters and World Champs in England in January. The World Cup in the Netherlands is now paid for, so now hoping to represent NZ in the above comps as well.
