Support My Journey to Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers – I Am a Mother Aiming to Break Barriers in Women's Boxing!

My name is Troy Garton and I am contacting you to request funding support in the growing women’s sport of amateur boxing. I have been fortunate enough to represent New Zealand locally and internationally on multiple occasions, including the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, where I came home with a Bronze Medal. Now it’s the biggest one; The Olympics!!

My dream has always been to go further and represent NZ at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and I have been selected to attend the prestigious world qualifier in Italy, departing 9th February to 15th of March 2024. It's that soon and the announcement was just last week for selections, so it's full throttle to make this happen. Hopefully with your help NZ will be represented in the Women’s 60kg category.

My journey in boxing has been fuelled by passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of my community. I have faced challenges, navigated losses, celebrated victories, and grown stronger with every bout. This Olympics presents me with an opportunity to reach the top, for not just me but for NZ.

I am also a new mother to a 9 month old girl, which has given me a greater appreciation of the drive mothers require to succeed in high level sport and the challenges they face. With your help, I hope to make a difference on my chosen path and inspire young women and athletes to pursue their dreams, and that they too can compete at the highest level in sport after childbirth or wharever challenges they may face.
