Support Needed to Honor Luke's Resting Place
As the family copes with the loss of their child, they need significant support to ensure Luke is given the resting place he deserves.

21-year-old Luke Smith, died in hospital after life support was withdrawn, following an attack at a nearby bus stop in Wellington. Luke, who had emigrated from South Africa with his family earlier this year, was assaulted around 3:15 a.m.

Use of funds
The funds raised will help the family manage the unexpected expenses they now face, ensuring they can cover the costs of Luke's arrangements and give him a proper farewell. Funds will be released to Luke's father, Brian.

Luke's parents have asked me to share their deep gratitude for the incredible generosity shown by all of you. The funds raised will help the family bring Luke back home to South Africa, where they can lay him to rest with the love and dignity he deserves.
They are truly amazed by the overwhelming support, kindness, and compassion from everyone during this difficult time. Your gestures, big and small, have provided immense comfort and relief to the family, and they are deeply touched by the strength of this community.
