  • 6 infusions and relay for life, complete!

A quick update to share where we are after a grueling six of our expected eight infusions.

Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster lately. After dealing with some breathing issues, we’ve had two CT scans to check for progress. The results came in, we have stable disease in the two prominent tumors, and we’ve even seen a slight reduction in the size of some lymph nodes. While the fight is far from over, "stable" is a win we are holding onto as a family.

Currently, we are focused on managing the day-to-day, using medication to keep the nausea and neuropathy pain under control. We are seeing our oncology team every four weeks to stay on top of things, and the kids and I are taking it one day at a time.

We will be back in the ring with chemo soon. Until then, the children and I are prioritizing creating memories, reminiscing on the good times, and navigating this unpredictable "new normal."

Advocating for rare cancer in this country is an uphill battle, and we couldn't do it without you. Please continue to share our story if you can, every time our journey is shared, it helps raise awareness for rare cancers and keeps our village strong.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us through Givealittle and your messages. Your kindness keeps us going.

With love and gratitude, Kida + kids xx

  • 4 infusions down and feeling optimistic!

We are officially halfway! Four infusions are behind us, and we are feeling hopeful. We can already physically notice some shrinkage in the lymph nodes, a promising sign as we head into our upcoming CT scan to check our progress.

A Heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated.Your generosity has taken a massive weight off our shoulders. Because of you, we can focus entirely on treatment and recovery rather than the financial strain. We are also so grateful to our "village" of friends and family helping us juggle the kids, we couldn't do this without you.

    Where to from here?

The CT Scan: This will confirm if the GCT is stable or shrinking.

The Path Ahead: We will continue with a further 4 infusions to keep the momentum going.

The Bigger Picture: We hope trialling this chemo path provides valuable insite to help other families in the future.

Our mantra: Worry less and have fun! Thank you for being in our corner and helping us through this journey.

Please continue to help us spread the word ❤️

Forever greatful, Nikida + tribe xx

  • Continuing the fight for every moment!

      22 January 2026

We are reopening this page because Nikida's journey has entered a new and challenging chapter. At the end of last year, CT confirmed disease progression. Due to a previous reaction to Carboplatin, the oncology team has recommended a trial of chemo Nab-Paclitaxel.

This treatment is currently the best path forward, with a likely response rate of 20–30%. While these odds are a challenge, the alternative is much harder to face; without this intervention, time could be cut even shorter. We are fighting for every possible moment.

Unfortunately, Nab-Paclitaxel is not Pharmac-funded. Because it is not an approved treatment for this diagnosis, medical insurance will also not cover the cost of the chemotherapy drug.

The current plan involves 4 cycles of 2 infusions. Not available locally, it requires a 2-hour drive each way for every appointment. One cycle has been completed. We are raising funds to cover the significant cost of chemo, ongoing travel cost and support for loss of income as Nikida takes necessary time off work to focus on health and recovery.

We would be incredibly grateful if you could please share this page with your friends and family. Every share helps get the word out and brings us closer to the support needed for this fight. Thank you for your continued love and support.

  • Update on Nikida's Journey

We want to express our heartfelt thanks for the ongoing support we’ve received—it has truly made a difference.

After completing 6 cycles of chemotherapy, we were saddened to learn that the cancer is fighting harder than expected. Nikida has been on a break from treatment since the end of January 2025, but unfortunately, she has again been dealing with nausea, back pain, bloating, and fatigue.

Nikida’s cancer, which has metastasized to the peritoneum, remains a challenge. Her oncology team has scheduled a CT scan in the coming week to assess the next steps and to explore any further possible treatment options.

Despite these challenges, Nikida finds strength in the moments she’s shared with loved ones. The memories being created have been priceless, and we are forever grateful for your ongoing support. Please continue to keep Nikida and her children in your thoughts as they move forward.

Even with an incurable cancer, Nikida's spirit remains unbreakable. It may challenge her, but it will never stop her.

Since my last update, I’ve suffered my first bowel obstruction and completed chemo #5, supported by my younger daughter, who has been a tower of strength. I was also lucky enough to have my brother visit from Australia, offering us extra support.

We had an amazing time camping around New Zealand, making memories, and sharing the kids' favorite spots with their cousins.

Thank you for all the love, prayers, and encouragement. Every day is a gift, and I’m so grateful for your ongoing support.

  • We always live in hope - our journey to create memories

We wanted to share the latest update on the treatment. Unfortunately, recent CT results showed no shrinkage in the cancer. However, it remains stable, which is a positive outcome. The stability could be due to the nature of the cancer (low-grade serous) or the effects of the single-agent chemotherapy treatment.

After careful consideration, as a family we have made the decision to continue with the treatment, as we are halfway through this phase and remain hopeful.

We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and support we’ve received from all of you. Your thoughtful messages, food parcels, gifts for the children, and generous donations have been an immense help during this challenging time. Every gesture has lifted our spirits and kept us going.

If you feel moved to do so, we would be grateful if you could share our story with others who might want to support us on this journey. The love and generosity we’ve received have been a true blessing.

Thank you for being part of this journey. We are forever thankful for your ongoing support.

Thank you so much for your incredible support. The children and I have been completely blown away by your generosity. Please know that I share all your kind messages with them, and they bring us so much comfort and hope during this time.

With the help of one of my closest friends and one of my little ones, we’ve just completed Chemo Cycle #3. We’re currently on a trial with single-agent chemotherapy, and I’m grateful that the side effects have been manageable, with little need for intervention so far.

In a few weeks, we’ll be having a CT scan to check our progress and reassess the treatment plan going forward. We’ve also completed the FoundationOne test, but unfortunately, after analyzing the genes and biomarkers, there isn’t a targeted treatment option available at this point. While this news is challenging, we remain hopeful and resilient in the face of it all.

We’ll continue to keep you all updated as we move forward on this journey. Your support has been a bright light, and we’re so thankful to have you with us every step of the way. Your kindness truly makes a difference.
