Help make Shine on Kaitaia's Dream for a multi-purpose Youth/Community Activity Centre - COME TRUE!

Northland

With the help of surveys, research and the ideas from our community and visitors to the Far North, we have designed a plan to create a Youth Activity Centre to benefit families of Te Hiku.

This Centre will not only provide fun activities and resources for youth, but will have a planned events calendar, programmes, workshops and creative spaces for personal, skills and career development, performing arts programmes, fun spaces for parents/kohanga or daycares to bring their babies and tamariki to - and also provide opportunities for other community groups to deliver their programmes from.

We want to continue to create positive spaces in out town and safe places for our Youth to always have somewhere to go and activities to do. Everything they want to learn to upskill themselves, towards securing mahi (work), can be made easily accessible with a Hub of information and Hive of Activity that is provided in "their" own environment.

We aim to build on what we've been doing in our community, so we can co-design more supportive systems for more rangatahi (youth) with the amazing services, organisations and people of Te Hiku. Positive options for them to experience so they are off the streets and have a sense of belonging and support will encourage the positive energy we are trying to create and building positive role models for our future. We believe that if young people are doing and contributing more to their community, they will feel more included and a part of society, take ownership of their surroundings and learn to respect their home and others while finding their talents, expressing their passions and living their best life in a town they LOVE.

Use of funds

To help our Volunteers continue their plans to create a Youth Centre for Kaitaia and the wider Far North and build capital to develop the Centre.
