Hopefully final update of the "Pus-head Saga". Last visit with the incredible Dr Steve at McMaster & Heap Veterinary Practice. Now that Penny is better she is back to her fully bratty self. We were meant to have a quick visit to remove her sutures and check all the things. But noiioiooooo. Penny is done with everyone picking, poking and prodding at her head so required light sedation to remove the sutures. Of course. Steve repeatedly called her a tiger and I was very much thinking "I told you so". So apart from incurring one last hit to the bank account she has a clean bill of health, a bald head (which is so lovely to kiss, I can see why people like Chinese Crested dogs now) and an incredibly well done empty socket. Sorry I've been so quiet for the last week. Honestly I've been just resting as much as I can after all the stress. Thank you so much to everyone who's comment, liked, msged, donated and just generally been here for me. It's really easy to feel isolated when you are sick all the time, but I have felt so cared for in these past few weeks. Thank you all.

Unfortunately things took a huge turn for the worse last Thurs/Fri with Penny's whole head becoming infected. She spent another day at McMaster and Heap, had 2 new drains installed and was given IV antibiotics. Over the weekend she responded well to treatment and with the help of my neighbor we were able to drain the gross infection from her head. It was very scary and expensive (another $800).

We had a check in with the vet yesterday and he is very happy with her progress. She had the 2 new drains removed (no more unicorn Penny). We are not out of the woods yet, Steve said in his 30 yrs of practice he has never seen anything like this, but we can see where the woods end. If this progress continues we may be able to have the suction drain removed tomorrow ((15/10) or more likely Friday. I've included a video from Sunday. Thank you all so much for your support. I am so humbled and grateful, we couldn't do this without you.

    Love Melanie, Penny and Mina
