Support Resene workers in winning a living wage. All funds go directly to supporting the workers.

Wellington

Resene Paint workers at the Naenae and Upper Hutt factories do not earn the Living Wage. They are currently in tough negotiations with their employer and need all the support possible to ensure the campaign is well-resourced and that they can win the Living Wage.

The stories of the workers speak for themselves:

Margret Jackson, who has worked at Resene for 11 years and is a Leading Hand, said making ends meet can be a challenge—especially when unexpected bills arise. Recently, when her car needed repairs, she was left wondering how she would afford it.

“Nine hundred dollars later, with the help of Afterpay, skipping bill payments, and using the little money I had saved towards my flights home to Niue for my nana's unveiling in October, here I am—back to square one.”

Another worker, who prefers to remain anonymous, shared that no matter how much he tries to save, after paying the bills he barely has enough left for groceries, let alone anything else.

“One of the worst feelings I’ve experienced was not being able to afford a birthday gift for my own son,” he said.

These are just a few of the stories that show the hardship faced by Resene workers.

All funds raised will go directly towards supporting the workers to take industrial action, if they need to.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
