Support Roydon’s journey to represent NZ at the (OCRWC) Obstacle Course Racing World Championships in Costa Rica!
Nelson
Hey Everyone! I am very humbled and honoured to have been selected to represent NZ at the upcoming OCR World Championships in Costa Rica held from 22-25 August. I will be competing in three individual races and possibly one teams race. The 100mtr with 12 obstacles, the 3km with 20 obstacles and the 15km with over 50 obstacles!
To make it even more challenging the 15km will be held at 2000 mtrs of elevation in hot and humid tropical weather conditions!
The events are going to be super tough and I’ll be racing against the best in the World.
But I’m determined to give it my all and leave everything out there on the course and represent NZ with pride.
Training has involved multiple sessions most days with a wide mixture of disciplines including running, cycling, indoor rowing and strength workouts.
And now as the event draws nearer more specific obstacle training and grip strength workouts.
As OCR is a fledgling new sport in NZ funding is very limited, so representing our country in this competition is all totally self funded.
Competing comes with significant expenses like travel, accommodation, competition fees and insurance. And pre event training costs back home like gear, physio, coaching and sports nutrition.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a big difference.
Thank you for joining me on this journey and for your generosity and support.
It means so much!

Racing starts tomorrow! 22 August 2024
Hey Everyone
Can't believe it's actually happening tomorrow! I arrived in Costa Rica two days ago after over 22 hours of flying via LA and Panama. It's an amazing country with stunning scenery and a unique culture vastly different to New Zealand. Racing kicks off with the 100 metre event with 12 obstacles. I've never done anything short and fast like this but I'm looking forward to blowing out the cobwebs and giving it a crack! Then the 3km race with 20 obstacles the next day and the 15km with 50 obstacles on Friday NZ time. It all wraps up with the teams races and 100 metre finals on the last day. I'm fizzing to go and the body's feeling rested and ready to smash it! Thanks again to everyone for all your support. It means so much and I'm determined to make you all proud of my effort.
Cheers
Roydon
