Help our mum Su Gingles fight Stage 4 lung cancer. Sotorasib is working — but not funded. Please donate or share ❤️
Manawatu / Whanganui
Kia ora whānau, friends, and kind-hearted supporters,
We’re reaching out to ask for your support for our amazing mum, Suzanne “Su” Gingles — a trailblazing wahine from Whanganui and the first woman in the New Zealand Army to receive the Red Diamond.
In April 2024, Su was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. After trying several types of chemotherapy with no success — and devastating side effects — we found hope in a targeted medication called Sotorasib, which is based on her specific gene mutation. It has stopped the cancer from growing and even shown signs of improvement.
The challenge: Sotorasib is not funded in NZ and costs $11,500 per month. We’ve done all we can to support this treatment so far, but we now need help to continue giving Su the chance to live.
Su is humble and proud, and never imagined needing to ask for support — but your kindness will go directly toward her life-saving medication and give her more time to be with her whānau, mokopuna, and community.
Whether you can donate or share, we are so grateful for every bit of support. Thank you for standing with Su.
I am one of Su's three children.
All donated funds will be used towards monthly Sotorasib medication and wellbeing.
Thankyou ❤️ 2 August 2025
We want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, and sent messages of support for Mum (Su). Your generosity and kindness mean the world to us, and we are so grateful to have such an amazing community behind us. We also would like to acknowledge the givealittle team who kindly shared mums story with one news.
Every single contribution helps us continue Mum’s life-saving treatment and gives us more precious time together. Your support is not just financial—it’s emotional, and it gives Mum so much strength and hope on this journey.
Please keep sharing our page with your friends and networks—it truly makes a big difference. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this fight with us.
With gratitude and love,
Us xx
