Support the Brizzle whanāu while Stu recovers from life saving surgery
Waikato, Matamata-Piako District
Most of you will know the Brizzle whanāu, though you you may not know of their personal struggle over the last 18 months.
Stu was diagnosed with acute renal failure last May and was given 3 to 6 months to live. He had emergency surgery to begin dialysis and during that time, it was discovered that he had a tumour on one of his failing kidneys. Following surgery to remove that kidney, Stu began travelling back-and-forth to Waikato 3 times a week for haemodialysis.
Eventually he transitioned to peritoneal dialysis (at home therapy) so that he could continue working, however this treatment was not sustainable.
Recently Stu got the call he was praying for. A kidney had become available, and Stu underwent life saving surgery.
He is currently in Auckland City Hospital, and will soon be transferred to a local motel so that his wife, Shadan, can care for him full time. This means that they are both unable to work, and their 3 young children are without mum and dad for an extended period.
If you know Stu, you will know what a pillar of integrity he is. He and his wife, who works for a local not for profit and runs a small business that supports women, contribute significantly to our community and have made a positive impact in the lives of many.
Please support this whanāu with the ongoing costs of accommodation, living away from home, household expenses, travel costs, especially over Christmas. Given Stu is self employed, he has no income, therefore any financial support is appreciated.
