  • Waihekians, you did it. Well done!

    Wow! Today, collectively we have met the (unofficial) target of $10,000. Congratulations to all you wonderful donors. The site is now closed.

    As mentioned previously, the messages of support received for Nita and Manhar are amazing and show how well thought of they have been over their 12 years of service to the Waiheke community. Probably not many shop owners can come through the good times and the bad, so consistently praised. Waihekians are the poorer for the loss of the Little O store. We wish Manhar and Nita all the best for the future.

    Again, many, many thanks to you all for supporting this project. It has reinforced the power of the people to help their fellow citizens when needed. Go well now and into the future, Glen Adams

  • Let's keep doing this!

    After the call first went out to the community the response has been amazing. Most important has been the messages of support from not only those who have been recipients of the services and friendship of Manha and Nita over the years, but also from other kind people who want to help. The couple have been deeply touched by these.

    Kia ora and thank you to all you wonderful Waihekians.

    It's a big ask but wouldn't it be great if everyone could spread the word further and we could continue on for a few weeks more of fund raising. Every little bit helps.

      I donated happily some months ago....Being a small community on Waiheke I heard from a reliable source that these people are actually financially stable...What is the reason we a donating for now please

  • A sad day

    It is with much sadness Manhar & Nita closed the door on the Little O store yesterday. However, our campaign is not over. The couple need time to catch their breathe and will be renting on Waiheke in the interim. This will of course eat into their funds let alone them having to pay off their loan. As expected, Waihekians have been very generous and best of all have sent aroha in spades to Manhar and Nita. Could I please ask you once again to pull out all stops to help this amazing couple.     Thanks to all who have responded to the request to support Manha & NIta Bhika. It is very gratifying to read the touching messages sent to the couple.

    At present their future is uncertain. People would like them to be able to continue in some shape or form, with mobile premises among the suggestions. However, just how realistic that would be, is unclear. If anyone has any other ideas they would be welcome. Also if anyone has skills in the production of a video ( You tube or Vimeo) please speak up.
