Supporting a Journey of Cacao, Community & Youth Empowerment

Ciao a tutti, I’m Giulia Mattioli.

This August I have the opportunity to return to the Solomon Islands, a place that has profoundly shaped my life and continues to inspire the work I offer in Aotearoa and in the world.

In 2023, thanks to the Cacao Ambassador, I connected with the Solomon Islands cacao community, building meaningful relationships with the people, the land, and the spirit of cacao. In 2024, I began collaborating with Pilopaso Chocolate Haus to create a Youth Empowerment Programme, where young people learn the journey of cacao—from tree to chocolate—while exploring sustainable farming, fair trade, and the value of their land and culture.

This journey is about strengthening these relationships, learning alongside local communities, documenting stories, and continuing to build a bridge between the Solomon Islands and Aotearoa through cacao, education, and cultural exchange.

I’m raising $8,000 to help cover travels, accommodation, local expenses to run the program, living expenses, rent while I’m away, and resources to document and share this journey.

Every donation helps continue this work and the knowledge I bring home through cacao, workshops, and community gatherings.
