Support a drummer's dream to become a filmmaker, spotlighting New Zealand's beauty through a refugee's lens.
Wellington
I started playing drums when he was 17 years old in progressive rock style. Alongside playing drums, I studied veterinary medicine. I and my brother Reza organized and performed at many large concerts in and outside Iran including in Turkey, Azerbaijan and Malaysia. I fled Iran after various legal challenges I faced because of my style and the Western music that I have been performing. I settled in Wellington after being an asylum seeker for many years in Malaysia.
Today, I am expanding my artistic horizons by studying Film and TV production at Yoobee College in Wellington. The transition to New Zealand has been a transformative experience, with the Maori and Kiwi culture and the awe-inspiring natural landscapes reshaping my perspectives. The new environment has stirred a unique blend of creativity in me, which I believe reflects the diversity and beauty of this place.
Starting 2024, I want to create films and documentaries to showcase internationally that provide a compelling reflection of the rich cultural and natural landscapes that make New Zealand unique. Through this medium, I aspire to spark thoughtful conversations and inspire change, making a positive impact on my adopted home.
Please share this and spread the word!
All funds raised will go towards purchasing necessary filmmaking equipment, and finance the production of my initial projects that aim to highlight New Zealand's unique culture and landscapes.
