Help us raise funds for Abby Dance's lifesaving unfunded Targeted Therapy for Cancer. Please Donate if you are able, if not please share!
Bay of Plenty
Earlier this year, our beautiful Abby was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Bowel Cancer, and four weeks later received a separate unrelated diagnosis of Stage II Breast Cancer.
So many people have asked how they can help, so we’ve created this Givealittle page to raise urgent funds to support Abby with the overwhelming financial cost of treatment, recovery, and caring for her three children.
While Abby’s diagnosis is a shock to all, there is hope.
Abby's Bowel Cancer has a rare BRAF V600E genetic mutation, which is resistant to Chemotherapy alone. The highly recommended, latest and leading first line treatment available is the BREAKWATER Protocol. Although approved for use in New Zealand, it is not yet funded here as is it in other countries, like Australia.
The treatment combines 3 distinct medications; Chemotherapy (Funded) and two (Unfunded) Targeted Therapy medications, Encorafenib and Cetuximab. The treatment costs $148,000 for the first year then the medication is funded by the pharmaceutical company thereafter.
Since beginning treatment, Abby’s results have been very promising. Her previously inoperable tumour has shrunk enough to make surgery possible! The reality is that Abby needs financial support to continue this life saving treatment.
Right now, Abby needs her friends, family and community behind her.
We would love your help in giving back to someone who has given so much to others. Please donate if you can, please share and thank you for your kind generosity.
Long time friend of Abby and her family.
Raised funds will go directly towards Abbys unfunded targeted therapy, Encorafenib and Cetuximab as well as ongoing oncology treatment fees, medical expenses & supporting Abby and her children through her recovery and loss of income.
