Help support Dr Greer and her family through her recovery from an unexpected medical crisis
Hamilton, Waikato
On the 15th of February 2026, Greer was admitted to hospital with a life threatening condition and has undergone two emergency bowel surgeries. She developed a serious complication of aspiration pneumonia, which has led to a prolonged and very difficult recovery.
Greer has been in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) requiring significant respiratory support. What began as an emergency surgery has turned into a long and challenging hospital stay, and a huge shock for Greer and her family.
Greer is a dedicated Plastics Surgery Registrar/Junior Doctor and worked full-time at the DHB for the past five years. She is also the primary income earner for her family. Her husband David is an apprentice builder, and together they are raising their three-year-old son, Archie.
Due to the severity of her illness and lung injury, Greer’s medical team has advised that she will need at least 2–3 months off work to recover and rehabilitate. At the moment she is still in HDU and only able to walk short distances with a physiotherapist and a walking frame.
With Greer unable to work and her sick leave exhausted, the family are facing growing financial pressure. In particular they are worried about meeting their mortgage repayments when their savings run out, while Greer focuses on recovering.
Any help would mean the world to Greer and her family. Your support will help relieve some of the financial stress during an incredibly challenging time for their young family.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
