Supporting Hundy (Phillip) Parr and His Family Through the Fight of Their Lives

This week, our community received heartbreaking news. Hundy has been diagnosed with cancer in his liver, lungs, oesophagus, and spine. Doctors have described his case as extremely rare, and at this stage specialists cannot safely determine the full extent of the cancer until he is off blood thinners and a blood clot near an artery by his liver has passed.

Hundy is a devoted partner to his fiancée, Jaime, and a proud father to four amazing boys — Phoenix, Chevy, Mason, and Nikau. They were due to be married this October, making this devastating diagnosis even more difficult for the family. As the sole income earner, Hundy now faces not only a significant health battle but also the financial pressures that come with treatment, travel, appointments, and everyday living costs.

A much-loved member of the Mercury Bay community, Hundy has dedicated countless hours to Mercury Bay Boars Rugby League Club and Mercury Bay Rugby. He has coached the girls’ rugby team, his sons’ rugby league teams, and has always been the first to lend a hand wherever needed.

Now it’s our turn to support him.
