Supporting Kevin Through Cancer Treatment

If you've been involved in judo around Tauranga, there's a good chance you've met my dad, Kevin.

For over 30 years, Dad has volunteered his time coaching judo, helping hundreds of children and adults, from beginners through to competitive athletes. Alongside that, he spent more than 20 years as the full-time carer for my brother Dylan, who has autism.

A few weeks ago, our world changed when Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. Although it can't be cured, he'll soon begin chemotherapy to help control the cancer and give him as much quality time as possible.

As Dylan has now moved into residential care, Dad has lost the income he received as Dylan's full-time carer just as he's starting treatment.

We're hoping to ease some of the financial pressure so Dad can focus on his health instead of worrying about money. Donations will help with everyday living costs, healthy food during treatment, travel to appointments, items Dylan may need as he settles into his new home, and materials for home renovations, with friends generously donating their time to complete the work.
