The willingness to help others is cemented into the New Zealand culture but what if it is you that needs the help? More than ever, rural communities are feeling the external, social and financial pressures of the day. Trev’s 2020 Farm Yarn is a response to those challenges and aims to raise support for the wellbeing of farmers, growers and rural communities in need.
Trev’s Farm Yarn, was the brainchild of Leighton Minnell and his mates during Thirsty Thursday in his ‘mancave’. Along with simultaneously solving most of the world’s greatest problems; a thirst for adventure and strong roots in the rural community, led to a unique publicity adventure that is sure to attract the attention and support of the wider community.
Trev’s Farm Yarn is a coast to coast adventure across the central North Island involving 16 ‘Trev’s’ and a Cave man. The ‘Trev’s’ are a take on the old Fred Dagg character with each rider dressed in the compulsory long gumboots/black singlet attire and each riding the classic kiwi farm bike, the Honda CT 110. The ride was meant to take place in March 2020 however Covid-19 put a stop to that, but it didn't put a stop to the Trev's raising funds to support local communities.
The ride will take place in March 2021 - but we are still operating to raise funds to help farmers in need.
Taranaki Federated Farmers is supporting Trev's Farm Yarn with the administration and is taking care of the funds.
The funds will be split evenly through the three Federated Farmers provinces that are directly involved in the Taranaki, Wanganui/Rangitikei and Hawkes Bays areas. This account has been set up in by Taranaki Federated Farmers.
