  • Update from Dale

      15 January 2019

#hollieupdate. ... we are on day 56 exactly 8 weeks... and I thought it was way past time we did an update on Hollie and our family. First off its been and continues to be one hell of a journey. Secondly please everyone that is reading this I want to thank you all for your amazing support and continued love it has made our lives so much easier and our dark times bright. There are some really special people and friends out there and I can't express our gratitude enough... you all know who you are so thank you.

Now Hollie continues to improve each and every day. She is now eating normally walking well and talking well. She had physio 5 days a week and has just boosted to twice a day. Hollie still has post traumatic amnesia but that too is also improving. This means that Hollie is quickly relearning all the basics things all over again... but as the amnesia subsides the learning comes quicker... we have been lucky because she has always remembered her people. Larnie Aijah Sam and the kid's visit as often as they can. Davey and I have been lucky to stay with friends. Mum has also been for a days and the Maketu family come often. Keani comes every weekend and every other opportunity he can. Davey left today to return to work this week. We expect to be here for possibly another month and then we will return to intense OT and physio at home. Well that's about it for now ... thanks for continuing to follow us. Dale and family

  • Hollie Update

      20 December 2018

    #hollieupdate

we have been moved to ABI in Auckland as hollie now needs little medical intervention.. she is still being tube fed but is able to sip water from a straw and can mouth silently yes and no. she is well and smiling and starting intense physio tomorrow... her progress continues to amaze everybody. we are on day 29 of this journey and she's way ahead of where she should be... for David Snell and I we are really feeling the pain of the unknown and especially being separated from Samantha Snell and Larnie Woodward and family. essentially we will be couch surfing between friends here and for tonight and tomorrow at least we are staying at the Lincoln green... we will attempt to come home for the odd night as we are able... the staff here are amazing....if you can make the day trip or have accommodation visitors are welcome... thanks everyone for your kindness and continued support and prayers love to you all...Dale and co

  • Update from the Snell family

      30 November 2018

    Update- day 12.

Thank you all for your prayers. Hollie has made some progress. She has been taken off life support and is breathing on her own. She can open her eyes. She is doing lots of coughing and lots of yawning. The doctors know from her brain waves that she can hear us and that she is having a normal sleep pattern. They are even talking about moving her out of ICU and into HDU. We are optimistic that if she keeps making progress like this that she may recover. However we have to be realistic and are not out of the woods yet. The extent of damage to her brain is not clear and brain injuries are extremely complex. We have to take each day as it comes and just keep hanging on to hope and keep praying. It’s a miracle that she’s come this far so please don’t stop praying for her! If she continues to show signs of progress they will discuss transferring her to Auckland to a youth rehab centre once she is stable enough. We are so proud of how far she’s come and we will stay by her side throughout her entire journey. Stay with us 💕

    Larnie and whanau xx
