This page was created to support Unnati Patel and her family with medical and recovery expenses following a serious car accident.
Nelson / Tasman
On 23rd January 2026 at approximately 12:50 PM, Unnati Patel was involved in a massive car accident at 3 Brothers Corner. The crash was severe and life-altering. Emergency services rushed her to Nelson Hospital, where doctors quickly discovered the extent of her injuries.
Unnati suffered multiple critical injuries, including:
All left-side ribs broken
Pelvis fractures
Fractures in both legs
Severe liver injuries with cuts
Significant internal bleeding
Due to the seriousness of her condition, doctors worked urgently to stabilize her. However, as her injuries were extremely complex and life-threatening, it became clear that she required specialized care beyond what was locally available.
On 25th January at 8:00 PM, Unnati was transferred by air ambulance to Christchurch, where advanced treatment and multiple surgeries will be performed as required. This transfer was necessary to give her the best possible chance at recovery.
Unnati and her family are now facing an incredibly stressful and uncertain journey. Doctors have advised that her recovery will be long and demanding, with an estimated 4 to 5 months of intensive treatment, surgeries, and rehabilitation ahead. During this time, her family will need to remain close to her, manage medical expenses, travel, accommodation, and daily living costs, all while supporting Unnati emotionally through her healing process.
I am a close family friend of Unnati Patel and her family, supporting them during this difficult time.
This fundraiser supports Unnati and her family by easing financial stress so they can focus on her recovery. Big or small, makes a real difference during this challenging time. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean more than words can express.
