Give Paul Coll a helping hand on his journey to the top levels of world squash.
Wellington
Many of you will be watching and enjoying Paul Coll's adventure as he works his way up the world squash rankings.
Anyone who knows Paul will know that he will be pushing himself to the absolute limits of what he can do.
What many don't realise about professional sport is that a lot is about timing. Getting the right breaks at the right time, being able to turn up on the off chance you may get in the draw, getting good draws and taking advantage - but you have to be there to get those breaks.
Finally, Paul has a chance to make the qualifiers of big events but often he simply can't get to those events. The Columbian Open in February was a large $150,000 event he WOULD have made the qualifier for but he couldn't afford to get there.
Paul's time is now - he has to be able to get to those events.
For this reason, a small group of supporters are starting this campaign for Paul. The idea is to raise $30000 for his travel costs over the next year.
We will administer the payment of the funds which will entail him sending a list of events he wants to play in with air ticket prices and us putting the money into his account. All dispersions will be fully accounted for and they will only cover air tickets.
There are no guarantees of success and we don't want to pressure him to reach this ranking or that. Our aim is to create a situation where Paul gets a break from the financial constraints and can relax enough to go for it.
I hope you would like to join us in doing that.
As a former world ranked player - I understand the part that proper financing plays in professional sport. Paul has a window of opportunity - I want to help him take full advantage of it.
