Due to the great Support we received on our Grand Opening day of the new ground yesterday we are now just a few thousand dollars short of our target. A remarkable achievement.

We had NZ Cricketer Neil Wagner opened the ground and The Projects Tony Lyall and Local Comedian Ben Hurley helped promote the event and entertain on the cricket ground.

One final push towards the target will wrap up a great turn around, come back for the club.

We cant thank people enough for their support and it wont be forgotten. Thanks Katikati Cricket Club

    Hi All,

We have had some great news lately with grants from the Lion Foundation and Grassroots Trust coming to our aid in helping replacing the equipment lost.

We have a Grand Opening of the new Cricket Ground (Moore Park Katikati )planned for the Sunday the 11th of April between 12.30pm and 5pm.

NZ Black Cap Neil Wagner is coming to open the ground and hopefully we can do a full push to raise the final funds needed.

Hopefully we can still edge closer to the target on here and thankyou all for your fantastic help so far.

  • New Cricket Oval soon be ready for play

In the meantime our new Oval is just about ready to use. The fire delayed us by 3 or 4 weeks but we should be on it for the last 6 weeks of the season. We had to borrow gear to get this done, thanks to a number of locals coming to our rescue. This includes Fotheringham Contractors FCL, Linich Engineering, R Earl, Grant C - roller.

Huge thanks to Owen from Fairview GC , he;s been brillant.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the support so far. We hope you all had a good break over the holidays. AS you can see from the Fire site its all been cleared away, just concrete left. We are still working towards getting the equipment replaced. We have bought a small reel mower for the grass wicket that should last the club for the next 10+ years. So we are saving towards and outfield mower and roller. We have a big fundraising event planned for April 11th, we will invite you all and businesses and sponsors......more on this later. So please don't forget about u ! , it will take all summer for us to hopefully reach our target. Please share our page . Thanks Katikati Cricket Club

  • Old Pitch Roller Donated - Its a start?

      2 January 2021

    Hi Everyone.

A bit of nostalgia in this update. We have been kindly given a very old walk behind pitch roller to use to prepare the wicket for weekly games. Its not quite the 3 to 4 ton roller we really need but it may help in the interim with a bit of light rolling for individual wicket prep for weekly games when we open the ground. Just have to get it running which might be a bit harder than we think!

Its the old Polecat Hydraulic Roller that spent much if not most of its life at the Mount Cricket Club and was there in the 70's onwards, maybe even earlier. It may end up as a monument at the ground entrance.

Funny the things that turn up! Thanks Shane Madison Turf for dropping it off.

  • Cricket Club Support Update

      2 January 2021
    Main image

Thankyou to everyone who reacted so quickly to helping us get this page up and running. The page was posted at the Test matchup on the big scoreboard and mentioned by the Big Bash Commentary team in Australia, thanks Brendon Julian! We are hoping to get some Black Caps support. There have been some great efforts and kind donations from around the country as well as promises of support and help. Big thanks to Lachie Weir in Otago, Rock Gas Stu Hedges, Jason Dovey @ Bond and Co, Papamoa, Mount and Cadets Cricket Clubs, Western BOP Cricket Board, Bay Indoor Centre, 2Wel Ponchos - Sean Lett and many others including some very generous contributions from individual families. We have so far managed to raise enough to replace the Reel mower with a good second hand one we found in the Sth Island.. trying to get it up here safely see the pic.

We are a 1/4 of the way to where we need to get to, so please share this around and hopefully we can get more people in behind us.

We have a few good fundraising events being hastily planned for the last half of the season. We will keep you updated.

    Thanks Katikati Cricket Club.
