Tamariki Toa o Te Pouahi are fundraising to get to the National Primary Schools Kapa Haka competition in Hamilton in 2019.
Nelson / Tasman
Tamariki Toa o Te Pouahi are a competitive kapa haka group consisting of 44 children (aged 7-11 yrs), selected from the Nelson Central School Te Pouahi bilingual unit. The children learn and perform waiata, poi and haka to an extremely high level for their young age. The tamariki are expected to demonstrate commitment, discipline, motivation and leadership.
Tamariki Toa have qualified to compete this year at 'Te Mana Kuratahi' 2019, the National Primary Schools Kapa Haka competition in Hamilton in November. This is an incredible opportunity for the tamariki and they are working hard towards this goal.
As well as preparing their performance set the children and their families need to fundraise for the costs of their travel, accomodation, meals, uniforms and logistics. This is a huge undertaking for the group and they need all the support they can get to make this happen.
