Ngahere Update

9 November 2022

Thanks to your donations we have been able to provide the irrigation and more mulch for our Ngahere project. It is really coming together with paths visible around the plantings. The irrigation and water tank are working and visitors have been able to see our progress. Please feel free to visit and see the Ngahere taking shape. We also now have some fantastic rocks to create a superb visual effect.

Thank you all so, so much for your donations for our Ngahere Legacy project. The first plantings are doing well, and we are slowly getting the mulch spread to help with the moisture retention. We have been so grateful for the help with planting, the donations from you and from our community, whether it is monetary or more plants. Please come along to the school to see our Ngahere (forest). The beauty of it is that is there on our playing field for all to see. It is exciting to think that we have created something as a legacy and we are looking forward to its growth.

Planting has started

On Thursday 23rd June the dedication of our ngahere and the initial stages of planting commenced as part of our Matariki Ngahere Legacy Project. The dedication started at 7am with students from our school and other local schools, together with members of our wider community. The first batch of native trees and shrubs were then planted over the course of the day.

The remainder of the ngahere will be planted in the spring when the weather is more suitable.

We are so grateful for your contributions so far. We have extended our give a little page deadline and would love you to continue sharing our page.

Planting day is getting closer!

A big thank you to all of you who have donated so far, we are so grateful for your contribution. Our planting day is getting closer and we have had some mulch delivered from Pan Pac and from Napier City Council - more is coming from the council. We are so grateful for all of these donations. Please let us know (06 844 6600) if you are able to come and help plant, we would love to see you on Thursday 23rd June.

Update

9 June 2022

There is lots of preparation happening on the school field for our Matariki Legacy Project. The area has been sprayed to prepare it, the trenches for the irrigation pipes have been dug and we have been gifted three truckloads of bark from Pan Pac to help to mulch the area ready for planting to begin on Thursday 23rd June.

Thank you for your support so far, it means so much to us to know that our wider whānau and community have donated to help us with our project.
