I'm looking to go bald and raise money for our Northland kids - part of an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORD attempt. Yahoo!
Northland
Bald Angels is a Northland not-for-profit charity set up to 'care for our kids'.
They are campaigning to set a Guinness world record by shaving 400 heads in one hour. While raising funds and awareness.
It's to support our own kids who may suffer through poverty, illness, hardship, stress and trauma. Northland unfortunately has some of the worst statistics overall in NZ, and in the developed world.
The generosity and spirit of Northlanders is astounding and they have seen evidence of this generosity in so many of their campaigns and projects! Their annual "Keep our Kids Warm" campaign collects hundreds of warm jackets, pyjamas, blankets which we distribute via Police, Plunket, Womens Refuge, and Hospice. The Community Gardens grow and distribute mighty harvests of fresh, organic veggies all year around.
Their Christmas Toy Drive delivers over 400 gifts to kids in need every year and we're bloody sure that lights up some faces!
They KNOW the right families are benefiting because they work alongside their amazing partners at the coalface.
If I can raise at least $5k – I will shave my hair off!
I don’t take this lightly – fair to say I have always loved my hair, even when I didn’t love the rest of me. For many women, our hair is our crowning glory and can also be our shield against the world. For me it is a big part of my identity – people often recognise me by my hair.
And now I plan to lose the lot, all because I want to be part of the drive to send a strong message to our kids (and raise some dosh). That you are important and that there are loads of people out there that believe in you and want to see you shine – as you were born to do.
The second part of why I am doing this is because I want to send another message, particularly to our young women. And that is, our real beauty is on the inside – who we really are is itched into the linings of our heart. This is where you will find your strength and your knowledge to move forward in a way that will enrich your life and encourage you to be all that you can be.
It’s nice to have flash clothes and great shoes – but these should be seen as enhancing who you are, not defining who you are.
So, please be part of this amazing and crazy event and help me to support our kids.
Thank you!
