Walking twice the height of Mt Kilimanjaro to raise funds for a school in Arusha, Tanzania
Wanaka, Otago
This April Tasmin is spending four weeks in Arusha, Tanzania volunteering at a school.
Most children in these childcare placements come from very poor backgrounds. Local daycare and nursery centres support vulnerable children, often providing their only daily meal. Families usually live in overcrowded, single-room homes with many siblings. These centres receive no government funding and rely on small fees and external support.
Tasmin is funding the trip herself but is raising funds to donate resources to the school/community whilst in Tanzania. The organisation she has applied through, International Volunteer HQ, recommend taking funds to Tanzania to purchase donations locally, boosting their economy. The local team in Tanzania will assist with choosing the resources needed.
Between now and when she leaves, 30th of March, Tasmin is going to walk twice the height of Mt Kilimanjaro's, worth of Mt Iron's.
Any donations would be hugely appreciated!
