Tatay J's Battle Against Myasthenia Gravis

  • One day at a time

      22 November 2019

Were counting days to see Tatay Johny 100% recovered. Just recently he was seen by his doctors and all of them had good feedbacks about his condition. There were some medication changes, especially the Prednisone was tapered down to 20 mg from 30mg per day for this week and then next week, he will start with 10mg only. Another good indicators are the clarity of his voice, his happy countenance and he was tolerating to swallow 2 pills now with gelatin. We are indeed grateful for each passing day of improvement. Thanking the Lord for healing and provision. And for you who's been us too.

  • Strength for the day

      14 November 2019

Thank you so much everyone. My father is getting better each day. His vision is clear now, no more diplopia, with clearer speech, walking in short distances by himself using the walking stick but swallowing is still an issue. Thank you for the PEG tube which is very useful for his pureed food and medications. As you all know, we set up the oxygen, nebulizer and sunction machine at home. Having these things at hand is a great relief. The good news today: for the first time since day 1 at home, my father did not use the sunction machine overnight and he will try to swallow gelatin today. We are very thankful to God for healing and for each one of you who"s been with us in prayers and financial support.

  • Successful procedure

      2 November 2019

The PEG placement was a success. But right after the procedure, my father became unstable. His cardiac rate shoot up, while the Oxygen saturation dropped, and the Blood pressure was also elevated. They had to extend his time in the operating room, until the vital signs became stable. He's now fully awake but still in pain. God is good! Thank you for your prayers and continuous support.

  • PEG for his swallowing problem

      2 November 2019

2nd Nov,.Tuesday at 8AM (Philippine time), he will undergo a surgical procedure - Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) in which a tube is passed into a patient's stomach through the abdominal wall. My father has swallowing problem, so its purpose is to provide the means to feed him.

We pray and hope that he will be at his best condition, and no complication.

  • Regaining strength each day

      1 November 2019

Thank you very much for your kindness and generosity. My father is happy and encouraged. He is determined and hopeful to get back on his feet 100%.

We are also very much encouraged with all your messages here and in FB posts.

My father is improving each day. His speech is clear now. He is able to stand and walk in short distances. His neck has regained strength. Swallowing is still a problem so food and medicines goes thru the nasogastric tube. The PEG tube will now be the option.
