Supporting 12-year old son in recovery after accident
Bay of Plenty
Denis who is 12-years old unfortunately tripped and fell between a car and trailer on Monday 12th of April. Since then he has been put into a medical coma and on a respirator and flown to Starship. On the 15th of April he completed a 6-hour surgery where he had 5-plates put into his hip and a pin into his left leg. He has a broken clavicle and multiple broken ribs and his internal organs are bruised but undamaged. We are grateful there is no damage to his brain, neck or spine. Denis is progressing well and is now breathing unaided and we can anticipate being moved from PICU to a ward soon. The healing process will be lengthy but we are expecting a full recovery.
