RUN/Climb to the top of Mt Maunganui June 16th

Bay of Plenty

Tauranga Special Olympics has a special fundraiser on Sunday June 16th 2019. A group of our athletes (All intellectually challenged) are taking on a climb to the top of Mount Maunganui. Some will run it and some will walk. Not an easy feat as some have never even walked around it! They have all had to secure sponsors and the funds will go towards keeping our club running, vehicle expenses, additional uniforms, affiliation fees (which have recently increased). There are approximately 40 athletes taking part so please help support this cause.

What a Day  18 June 2019

A great morning was had by 38 athletes and their supporters. Everyone made it. Te Huia Apaapa ran to the top 5 times in the 2 hours frame . 3 others ran it twice and 34 walked it. What an amazing achievement. So many walked to the top but havent even walked around it. Sheer determination all the way.
