      11 July 2014

Just a update on what's happening with and at the two Colony's I take tender loving care of. They both are in good healthy condition, although 1 colony has no shelter and don't know how to fix. I am working on that 1. Both colony's are doing very well thanks to the Loyal Generous Guardian Angels I have in my corner. You fabulous support is such a HUGE help to me and I appreciate it more than you will ever realize. I know have a main drop of point thanks to Emma at Holistic Vets.. Please when you drop of food say it is for Elsa's cat's. This drop of point maybe more central for most. I have asked her if it is ok for people to drop of food for me there as I have found that giving out the private address not very successful and there is only two that have used it out of 5. the ones that have used please do so again others please do not. I am always thankful for whatever anybody can spare to donate. Be it 1 can to 20 cans, from the bottom of my heart Thank you so much.. To the lovely Angel that drop food of at the race course thank you so very much Appreciated. Thank you for reading this and God Bless and Take care of each other and the fur kids in your lives.xx Elsa

Awesome terrific day yesterday and today. I was contacted by an awesome lady named Cindy who turned up today and blessed the fur cats with a enough food to feed them for 4 days* Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Bless you Cindy. I am very greatfull for your kindness and it has taken the weight of my shoulders for just a wee while. On Friday I was feeding the fur kids at one location and I was approached by two lovely ladies who were sorry that they didn't have much to help me BUT gave me 3 tins of cat food each. I was amazed and thanked them so very much for their generousity and I told them that this did not happen very often. I have been at same locations and there has been 6 tins of food left on the feeding station but must of just been dropped of or me thinks it would of worked. Me of little faith. Shame on me. I thank you each and every one of my AWESOME GAURDIAN ANGELS who Bless me with food and donations of money.. Monies IS spent on the food for the cats,as donors know. Thank you for reading. Elsaxx

Here is an update from the Facebook Page (by Elsa): Well since my SOS went out we had a few very nice people donate much needed food/ money for the colony's. We like many who feed colony's are always desperate for much needed food to feed the fur kids. I always Hate asking but if you don't ask then you don't know if anybody can help. I am extremely grateful to those AWESOME ANGELS that give to food and funds to the fur kids. It is an on going battle, to always have enough food for them. They are going threw food like no tomorrow but think this is maybe of the cold and wet. . I would like to say to my Treasured AWESOME ANGELS Thank You... ** With out you beside me, my struggle would be so very much harder. Please take care of your loved pets in this horrid weather. I came across and dead 3month old kitten that had been run over, very early in the morning on the way to work at 6.30 and this wee soul should of not been left out in this disgusting nasty wet weather. This makes me mad. Well enough of that. Please take care of your fur kids big and small and more importantly Take Care of you each other. Thank you for reading. God Bless to all.xx Elsa

Hi to everyone who is looking at this page - we still need on-going donations to help towards the cost of feeding these 2 cat colonies in Tauranga (especially now it's winter and they are eating more due to the cold). Any donations are greatly appreciated - even $1.30 which will buy a can of Homebrand cat food! If you can share this Givealittle page with your friends and family that would also be appreciated - all we need is a lot of people giving a little bit and we will have raised the year's target of $2k! Also, for those in Tauranga - we also greatly appreciate any donations of cat food - please see our Facebook page and send a PM and a drop-off address will be given to you (or you can request the food to be picked up). Thank you :)

Well, thank the heavenly Angels above as me and my friend Roger went to Papamoa Markets to brave the rain and managed to raise enough to once more take the pressure of me for the food. I managed to get 15 chicken mince, 6 hound log, rice/pasta and mixed vegie for the stew for the fur kids.Phew.I managed to buy from my wages 36 tins of cat food and kibble so that was a breather for me as well.I have 1 lovely wee pussy cat that has been dumped up at race course and Sue from ARRC has generously said that she will take her on and hopefully find her a forever home. Man is she a pig when it comes to food. To see her at feeding time she is telling the older generation off. A sweet wee soul. THANK Sue. I have sourced an awesome butcher for my chicken mince and the hound log. A big saving for me. Awesome. If anybody out there ever has a kitchen cupboard clean out or freezer clean out please don't throw any thing away as maybe I can use to feed the fur kids, in a stew.If I can't I will dispose of it. Thank you for reading and I do appoligize that I put out the SOS Friday but was very desperate. Scarey when it is like that. Please take of the fur kids in your lives and please look after them. God Bless to all. Again thank you to the Awesome Angels already helping the fur kids.xx Elsa

I am yet once more putting out an SOS for the cats. They are eating a lot more with the cold weather here. I am unfortunately sinking rather than swimming with the food situation. Even if you can only afford $5 that buys a houndlog (well almost). I hate asking I really do but going it alone with the Financial care of the cats apart from the Awesome Angels that help whenever they are able, it is really, really hard. I promise they will never go hungry as I will feed them and my own before anything else. OOPS Hubby up there with them. Anyway we have a drop of point in Greerton (Tauranga) but I will not put address up on here. You can make contact through our Facebook Page. Many thanks. To the Lovely people already helping thank you so very much. Elsa xx

      3 June 2014

Tauranga Cat Colony Rescue is mainly run by a lovely lady called Elsa who has been feeding these 2 Tauranga wild cat colonies for a number of years. She has the support of a small number of people who help with donations of food and fundraising - she calls them her ""AWESOME FABULOUS ANGELS""! The group has a Facebook page (link shown on this main Givealittle page) and Elsa regularly updates it with how the colony is doing, so please feel free to check out the FB page. Here is what Elsa says about the amount of food required to feed the 2 cat colonies each week: ""I usually buy each week for the colonies 4 to 6 Houndlog dog rolls, any where from 25 to 45 tins of budget [cat food] and cat biscuits. It is a regular thing that I do for the fur kids - buy the above amount so to keep a good supply available as I never know when I won't have money left out of either of our wages to do so"". So this Givealittle Page is about trying to raise money to go towards the cost of the food for these 2 colonies. The $2600 donation goal that has been set represents approx. what it cost to feed them over a 1 year period. If you are in the Tauranga area and would like/prefer to give donations of food rather than money, they too will be gratefully accepted! You can contact (PM) Elsa on the group's FB page and let her know and she will get in contact with you. If you are not on Facebook, then you are welcome to leave a comment and contact details on this page and we will forward that to Elsa. For those who are wondering - all the cats in the 2 colonies have been de-sexed (with the generous help of the ARRC Wildlife Trust here in Tauranga), and any new strays or dumped cats are caught and de-sexed. The cats that are being fed are the ones who are not suitable to be re-homed. Thank you so much to Laura Wood who gave us the first donation on this site - you're awesome, thank you; and we hope her generosity will encourage others :)

      30 May 2014

Tauranga Cat Colony Rescue is a non-profit organisation that isn't just going each day and feeding a colony of wild cats & kittens that are only there because they have been dumped there and/or bred from a dumped un de-sexed cat. Although yes that is what we do, and often the cost of the food comes out of our own pockets. We also, with the support of the ARRC (Animal Rehab & Rescue Centre), de-sex & vet check as many of the cats that we can catch. We evaluate each caught one as to whether it could be rehabilitated back into being a domesticated cat or is it far to feral. If they can be rehabilitated then new homes a sought. If they are simply too feral then they too are de-sexed but then released. A de-sexed feral cat causes a LOT less problems than one that isn't de-sexed!!! We also catch as many of the kittens that are produced along with their mother and of course we de-sex the mother cat and find homes for the kittens once they are at an age where they can be de-sexed before adoption.
