Tautoko Jhalena through Leukaemia
Hawke's Bay
Jhalena, a loving, happy, energetic, go lucky 15 yr old from Wairoa had her life suddenly changed 1 month ago. Jhalena was showing bruises all over body. Assuming that they were sports related injuries, feeling fatigued & sore, Jhalena still made it a priority to go to school until her māmā Renee, knew something was off & took her into the doctors.
After 3 blood tests, the doctors in Wairoa had them both flown to Hastings hospital within the next hour. That same evening, Jhalena was unexpectedly and abruptly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
Jhalena, who went from living a normal every day life, enjoying her friends, school & hanging out with mum, dad & her 5 siblings; was rushed to Starship Hospital the next morning undergoing large amounts of stress, ongoing tests & heavy chemo.
Being a big, active whānau whom is already coping with heavy losses, this is the LAST thing they needed. Now, Renee, will stay with Jhalena as her support person, which means she's unable to return to work and help to provide & be there for her whānau who are still in Wairoa.
This page is setup to help provide Jhalena and her whānau with whatever they need to support them through this journey. Whether it's proper kai through chemo treatments, extra items for Jhalenas comfort or to help her family with financial hardship. Jhalena has a strong will to beat this & to go home to her whānau.
First cousin to Jhalena's pāpā, CJ Whakatope.
Food, travel and accomodation support for Jhalena and her mum, dad and siblings. (Her dad and siblings live 6 hours away)

Tēnā tātou,
Just an update. Renee has asked if I could receive funds on her behalf. I will ensure all donations go to her and that her and Jhalena get everything they possibly can from all of this aroha you have given them and the whānau.
