Fundraising to support organisations dedicated to improving the mental health of New Zealand youth.
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
On 28 February 2022, Taylor Kite, our deeply loved and cherished son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, friend and boyfriend, died aged just 22.
A beautiful young man, both inside and out, Taylor blessed us all with his kindness, caring heart, quick wit and inimitable smile. Talented, full of promise, his whole life ahead of him. His death has shattered our worlds.
We are now the memory keepers, the rememberers. The people left behind. The people left to cherish and preserve a legacy, committed to keeping Taylor alive in heart and mind.
So we are coming together on 15th October to run/walk the Whitianga marathon, half marathon, 10km or 5km. In memory of Taylor, to help others struggling with their mental health and to promote suicide awareness and prevention.
The tragedy of suicide is not something that just happens to other people. We bear witness to this terrifying truth and want to play our part in preventing it from ever darkening your door.
I am Taylor's mother and will ensure funds are distributed to the organisations we have identified as being dedicated to promoting mental health. I have no relationship with I Am Hope but personally know the founder of Soul Learning Ltd.
All funds raised will go towards I Am Hope, Soul Learning Ltd and the Whitianga Marathon Event.
Thank you so much! 7 November 2022
A huge thank you to each and every one of our 337 generous donors! Together you have donated $20,960 - double the amount we were hoping to raise.
The Whitianga run/walk was an amazing event. There were over 55 registered runners/walkers in our team, so no wonder we won the best team award! Check out the photo of some of us at the finish line, wearing our Taylor t-shirts - we sure dominated the event.
Then after the run we all came together in the evening at the Cooks Beach community hall to celebrate our efforts and dance away some of the sore muscles:)
It was a fabulous weekend of love and laughter as we remembered our precious TK, and so rewarding to know that together, we have raised $20,000 to support I am Hope and Soul Learning's efforts to help young people in New Zealand with their mental health.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
