Auckland

Te Puea Memorial Marae has opened our arms & doors to homeless whanau to get them out of their cars and off the streets as Winter settles in. Please help us to help them.

You may have seen in the news these past two weeks the harsh reality these families are facing. While we have opened our doors, our kaimahi (workers/volunteers) are working hard to help them get into warm homes, along with kai (food) and basic necessities to help get them "on their feet".

Our Manaaki Tangata initiative will run until the end of Winter 2016. Funds raised will go towards supporting the homeless whanau who come through our doors. Any remaining funds after the programme ends, will go towards the maintenance of Te Whare Tumanako, the building which is currently housing the "Gifts of Aroha" sent in by generous donors across the country & abroad.

Ma tou rourou, ma toku rourou, ka ora ai te iwi - together our contributions, however big or small, will help sustain our people.

About us

Te Puea Memorial Marae was established in 1965 in honour of Te Puea Herangi CBE, granddaughter of the second Maori king, King Tawhiao. This page is to continue her work in caring for the people and getting the work done - Mahia te mahi!

Every bit counts whanau :)  3 June 2016

MASSIVE props to Dennis Thompson from Warkworth. He's given us this sleepout for free :) and to Hamish Quinn and Danielle Soper from Mainfreight for the free delivery. It's a new home for one of our families!

One thing we're hearing "I'm sorry it's not much." Please know that every bit counts and even one can makes a difference!
