The Quiz Night we organised earlier this month went well with 15 teams attending. Volunteers that helped organise the quiz; Yvonne, Annie, Rose, Janet and Rosalee, made it happen. A big thank you to them and to all of you who attended.

My training continues, now based though at Lake Clearwater - my high altitude training camp. I am also continuing to raise money. The RSA have said they will make funds available to me, I will be saying a few words at the club next week regarding the New York City Marathon challenge I set myself.

I would like thank everybody that has donated money to help me get to the 2025

New York City marathon. I am so lucky to have such generous friends and family. Can I please ask for your help again. Firstly if you haven't done already can you please share this givealittle page or my facebook posts so more people know about my fundraising efforts. Secondly for those of you who are in and around Ashburton please get a team together for my fundraising quiz night which is on Friday 15th August. More information regarding the Quiz will be posted here, on my blog and my Facebook Page www.facebook.com/terry.oneill.3726/ .

My training continues as I start to stretch out the distance I travel. Weather has generally been kind and the rowing machine waits for any wet days. Anybody who wants to bike with me let me know. I also connected with Achilles Christchurch for a training session at Hagley Park and a coffee. Achilles International will be helping me with logistics in New York for the marathon. They also generously gave me scholarship to help me attend the marathon.

    Cheers Terry

  • Christchurch Half Marathon Done - Long Miles to Come

      19 April 2025

I have already been blown away by the donations I have received in this campaign to the 2025 New York City Marathon. Sunday 2nd November 2025 does not seem that far away now and my training has not gone much past the 21km mark. The work really does now begin...along with the Canterbury winter.

It was great though to compete in the Christchurch 1/2 marathon recently. I had been training well before this event and it was great to do a push with other athletes including a couple guys in wheelchairs with freewheels. I managed to keep my racing chair ahead of the 10km runners with the wheelchair one minute head start for a couple km's. From there on I was pretty much surrounded by runners and some how I managed not to hit anybody. I did not make the time I was aiming for but the time would have been better with smoother roads and not many people around me. I was though very happy with the day.

Looking ahead the long miles start now along with more fundraising. I looks like the the focal point of this will be a quiz night. More about this soon.
