Update from Cherylayn
4 November 2023It has been 3 weeks since Terry passed. Beloved husband of Cherylayn, son of Gerritt, father to Jason and Peitra, father in law to Lucille, poppa to Logan, Lusiaan, Shannon and Aania, great grandfather to Johannes and his sister, brother in law to Peitra’s aunty Tiare, brother to Peter and many others and friend to even more. Terry was a mentor, martial artist, athlete, author, league player, musician, and a close protection security specialist, who loved his whole extended whanau, wherever in the world they are. Almost every day, someone has a kind word, or a memorable story to recount.
On behalf of the broken hearted Spaander whanau, including the Kereopa’s, Malietino’s and the Hartnett's, we are thankful for the generosity of not only the folks (Nino, Steven, Johnny, Matthew, John, Steve and Ann, Karam, Sarz, Huia, Andrea, Gabrielle, Lauren, Logan) who have given here, but also those who gave on the day, or those who may have heard later. Like our landlord, Peter, who left pastries at our door, or the Cardiology Head, Dr Nicola, who sent a thoughtful email, or the heart failure nurse, Maria, who called me.
We have nothing but love, in response to the outpouring of aroha, for Terry, that we continue to receive. Limited space doesn't allow us to acknowledge everyone by name, but we want to mention a few. Robert, Junior and McInnes whanau, Mr and Mrs Carl Ross, John, Perry, Lauren, Chris and Thierry, Steve and Ann, John, Logan May.
Thank you everyone,
Cherylayn
