The Bowie Project: Giving Cleft Stories a Voice

  • Continuing the Journey - The Bowie Project Update

      20 April 2026

The Bowie Project is continuing to grow, and I’m reopening this page to support the next stage of the journey.

Since launching, the project has been largely self-funded, with generous early donations helping cover initial studio hire and get things underway. With that support, I’ve travelled across the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Auckland, hosted two studio shoot days, and created 16 portraits of individuals and whānau within the cleft community.

As the project expands nationwide, ongoing support is essential. Donations will go directly toward travel, studio access, and equipment hire, allowing me to reach and document remaining participants across Aotearoa.

I am also applying for external funding to support the printing of a published book. In the meantime, contributions here will ensure the photography and storytelling can continue.

Every donation helps make it possible to share these stories more widely.
